What’s the role
As an IT Business Analyst, you will deliver world-class business analysis services supporting application development and enhancement initiatives across Shell’s global IT landscape. Working closely with business stakeholders and clients, you will identify, analyze, and define business needs, translating them into effective solutions that address complex business challenges. You will operate within a global Information & Digital Technology (IDT) organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Shell’s IT hubs in Bangalore, London, Houston, and the Netherlands. The role supports the Shell Energy business, contributing to projects across Power, Gas, LNG, and Environmental Products with a strong focus on trading activities, and plays a key part in enabling Shell’s Energy transformation. What you’ll be doing
Act as a subject matter expert for the Gas or European Power businesses, bringing deep domain knowledge to solution delivery.
Lead the identification, analysis, and documentation of business requirements, partnering closely with technical teams to define feasible and effective solution options.
Manage requirements across the full end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle, including transition and knowledge handover to support teams.
Plan and deliver business analysis activities across projects, ensuring the effective use of methods, tools, and technologies.
Assure functional design quality, resolve design-related issues, and remain accountable for key solution design decisions.
Serve as the product SME for delivery teams, building credibility as a trusted advisor to business and IT stakeholders.
Work in close alignment with Business and IT leadership to shape product roadmaps, manage demand pipelines, and align capacity and capability needs.
Coach and mentor members of the wider business analysis community, contributing to the continuous uplift of domain, product, and analytical capabilities.
Provide leadership to assigned teams, supporting individual development planning and performance management.
Act as a point of escalation for issues impacting system performance, solution design, or functionality.
Apply strong analytical, leadership, and change management skills to independently drive transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, engaging effectively with senior stakeholders and vendors on complex challenges.
Translate technology concepts into clear, business-friendly language, managing expectations and adjusting scope and outcomes as requirements evolve.
Drive innovation by identifying new approaches to existing challenges and opportunities.
Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders by understanding their objectives, constraints, risks, and operating environments.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
9–12 years of overall IT experience, including a minimum of 8 years in IT Business Analysis.
Strong domain experience in Power, Gas, or LNG Trading, and/or hands-on experience with ETRM systems.
Proven expertise in applying business analysis methods and tools, with a strong track record of delivering high‑quality project artefacts.
Ability to clearly articulate business problems, value drivers, and functional and non-functional requirements.
Demonstrated capability to translate business requirements into effective solutions, assessing risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts across solution options.
Experience working within Agile delivery environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Strong background in managing complex data sets, analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
Experience working effectively in geographically distributed, global teams.
