Summary:
Reporters/Researchers work in person in the Investigative Reporting Workshop (IRW) newsroom during the summer months, beginning at or around June 1st. This is a part-time position.
Duties include research, fact-checking, filing public-records requests, analyzing data, interviewing subjects and experts, and other tasks as they arise. At the direction of IRW editors and our journalism publishing partners, reporters/researchers may work on stories across a wide range of topics, including police use of force to political funding to the release of toxic chemicals in water and air. These stories often focus on the accountability of government agencies. American University and the Investigative Reporting Workshop does not provide housing or transportation.
Essential Functions:
Support IRW’s investigations: Research, fact-checking, filing public record requests, interviewing subjects and experts.
Request and Analyze Data: Request and gather public information; Analyze data.
Other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
