Job Description Summary
This is an Entry level with low experience. The Irrigation Technician oversees the operation and repair of the center pivot irrigation machines, and training on using Basestation3 system.
Job Description
Working on knowledge of the hydraulic water valves and delivery system.
Often required to operate small and medium backhoes, loaders, and trenchers.
Is willing to be trained in either Welding or Electrical.
Operating Basestation3 and working with growers.
§ Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports on all unsafe activities to the department’s Safety Officer.
Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provides leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid current driver’s license is required.
Must be in very good health and above average physical condition, in order to handle this very physically demanding position which requires long hours of outdoor exposure to the elements.
Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs..
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, twist, and turn frequently.
Exposed to outdoor and indoor environments that vary from hot to cold, exposure for up to 14 hours per work day, including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells, and allergies
Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and in or under the equipment.
Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places to perform job duties—the ability to operate work-related equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders to enter equipment regularly.
