About the Role
M&G’s Structured Finance business is seeking a high‑calibre Investment Analyst / Associate to join our Asset Based Equity team.
This is an opportunity to become part of a growing team responsible for sourcing, structuring and managing asset‑based equity investments, both directly and through dedicated investment platforms.
The portfolio currently exceeds $2bn of assets under management, with exposure across a diverse range of asset classes including royalties, aviation leasing, real estate lending, agriculture, and mortgage servicing rights. With new strategies launching, this role offers the opportunity to play a meaningful part in the continued growth and evolution of the platform.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will support the team across the full investment lifecycle, from origination and analysis to execution, portfolio management and ongoing monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
• Support origination activities, including screening new opportunities and preparing initial investment assessments
• Conduct financial, commercial, legal, and structural due diligence on prospective investments
• Manage and coordinate due diligence providers and external advisers
• Draft and contribute to investment papers and materials for Investment Committee approval
• Build and maintain financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis, across both equity and debt structures
• Research markets, asset classes, and sectors to support investment theses and strategy development
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisers (legal, tax, technical, financial)
• Assist in reviewing transaction documentation and support transaction execution
• Maintain robust documentation, controls and audit trails in line with M&G governance standards
• Support marketing and fundraising activities for new funds or strategies, as required
• Contribute to ongoing portfolio monitoring, performance analysis, and reporting
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Experience
Relevant experience gained in:
• Buy‑side investment analysis
• Investment banking (structured finance, leveraged finance, DCM, or similar)
• Private credit, private equity, or real assets investment
Experience within structured finance, asset‑based investing or fund investments is advantageous.
Skills & Capabilities
• Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
• Experience in investment and commercial due diligence
• High attention to detail and the ability to synthesise complex information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Well‑organised and proactive, with the capacity to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Strong analytical judgement and a commercial, risk‑aware mindset
Qualifications
• Degree or equivalent qualification in finance, economics, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional qualifications (e.g. CFA) are advantageous but not essential
