Job Summary: This position is located in the Office of Protective Intelligence Investigations (PII), Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Department of State (DoS).

Major Duties:

  • Plans and coordinates the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of all-source protective intelligence used in conducting investigative and protective intelligence operations.
  • Identifies opportunities to mitigate threats through a variety of analytical processes and makes recommendations regarding threats to special agents and/or law enforcement.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance in the planning and execution of Protective Intelligence Investigations (PII) and protective intelligence operations.
  • Identifies, researches, and evaluates emerging investigative and analytic tools and techniques that can be used to effectively support investigative and protective intelligence operations.
  • Develops training modules and provides technical training for special agents regarding investigations and protective intelligence operations.

Qualifications: Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience extracting intelligence data from various sources to provide technical information for investigations. Experience monitoring and analyzing intelligence data from multiple sources to advise on security concerns. Experience coordinating intelligence programs across the United States government (USG). There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
