Inventory Strategy Manager - Supply Chain

This role serves as the Integrated Planning lead for department wide initiatives such as distribution center openings, acquisition planning, and network replenishment changes. This role owns inventory strategy, project execution, and full alignment across cross-functional team members to a unified, executable inventory plan for a given project.

This leader creates alignment across Supply Chain, Category Management, Field Purchasing, Market Inventory Managers, and Field Leaders to ensure inventory readiness is achieved on time, within budget, and aligned to service and working capital objectives for the project.

This is a high visibility role that operates as a leader and executor across various domains of Integrated Planning!

Location: This position is based out of our Newport News, VA HQ on a Hybrid Schedule of 3 days in Office (T, W Th) and 2 days Remote (M, F)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of new Distribution Center openings on behalf of Integrated Planning to include product files, slotting files, inventory projections, transfer strategies, stock analysis and other critical tasks.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain Strategy and Warehouse Design to stay in lockstep on project execution. Reports out progress and highlights risk regularly.
  • Serves as the inventory strategy lead for assigned projects, designing and aligning the approach to transfer vs buy and optimal use of inventory layers (safety, cycle, lead, order).
  • Develops and owns the initial inventory buy plan to support given DC go-live.
  • Defines SKU assortment strategy and initial stocking levels.
  • Facilitates decision-making discussions while keeping all interested parties aligned to the plan.
  • Proactively identify trade-offs and present data-driven recommendations.
  • Drives accountability across IP teams to deliver on overall supply chain project timings.
  • Leads cross-functional working sessions to resolve supply constraints, capacity risks, and timing conflicts.
  • Creates service and inventory analysis to support branch replenishment path changes, as well as, advising and completing plans to deliver the strategy change.
  • Serves as the SME for department wide automated processes like TRN and FFT.
  • Collaborates with Warehouse Design to improve the way APS planned inventory drives a better design outcome.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, inventory planning, or supply chain leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
  • Experience supporting new facility launches or large-scale inventory builds preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen related to inventory investment and working capital.
  • Advanced analytical and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of communication and presentation capability.

Pay Range:

$6,900.30 - $11,275.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
