At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we offer an outstanding opportunity for an Inventory Operations Lead (Lead Material Handler). This role is ideal for someone with proven experience in all daily warehouse activities (receiving , storage , picking , packing and shipping) with the ambition to excel and have a drive for continuous improvement. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to our mission to build a healthier, cleaner, and safer world!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, picking, staging, material movement, shipping, and distribution.
  • Train team members on material handling processes, equipment operation, documentation practices, and standard operating procedures. (Dan for now)
  • Maintain accurate inventory; perform cycle counts, reconciliations, and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Perform and verify real-time inventory transactions in warehouse or ERP systems
  • Prepare, package, and document material shipments to other internal sites as needed.
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues and provide guidance on technical or complex tasks.
  • Support small projects and improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, or safety.
  • Promote and model safe work practices; ensure employees follow safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and efficient warehouse work areas; support 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, scissor lifts, rulers, tape guns, and other warehouse tools.
  • Communicate effectively with internal partners, including materials management, scheduler, production, logistics, and leadership.
  • Support accurate documentation of material movements, records, and training compliance.
  • Assist other warehouse areas or functions as needed to meet business demands.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others in a warehouse or material handling environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency using computers and inventory management or ERP systems
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Skilled in accurate picking, counting, measuring, sorting, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements.
  • Certified or able to become certified to operate forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and company vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to work in multiple temperature environments and use PPE as required.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and consistent adherence to procedures.
