A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and material movement operations to ensure efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and information. This role serves as a critical link between manufacturing, production control, and procurement, ensuring material flow aligns with business processes. The supervisor manages workflows, monitors performance, and drives process improvements while maintaining safety standards and inventory accuracy. Additionally, this position provides leadership, training, and direction for cycle counting, transaction auditing, and material rejection processes to ensure accurate inventory transactions and compliance with company standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Overseeing the accurate and timely receiving, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods, ensuring quality control and adherence to procedures
  • Supervise and lead the warehouse team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.
  • Manage and oversee the part kitting process, ensuring kits are prepared accurately and delivered on time to support production schedules.
  • Serve as a Safety Champion, promoting and enforcing safety standards, conducting regular audits, and leading initiatives to maintain a culture of safety throughout the operations.
  • Support the creation of production plans that minimize inventory levels and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Development, maintenance and communication of key performance indicators that are consistent with executive strategic and plant-level performance measures. Analyze data to identify causes of variances
  • Leadership: Set objectives for reports; review and monitor the performance to objectives. Select, train and motivate employees to meet objectives, removing barriers to success whenever possible. Work with employees to develop skills and advance their personal development plan
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations and material flow.
  • Train and direct cycle counting team to ensure accurate transactions and audits
  • Supervises up to 20 direct reports
  • Foster harmonious relations within the shifts
  • Reports directly to the Materials Manager

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • High school diploma and 7+ years of relevant experience or associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or Bachelors with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Two years of hands-on experience with production planning and /or inventory management
  • Three years’ experience leading teams (indirectly or directly)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient in Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • An understanding of priorities and balances short-term and long-term requirements
  • Demonstrated competence in the planning and set up of the KANBAN pull system

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or Operations Management
  • Extensive ERP system experience, particularly with IFS
  • A proven record of supervisory experience and must have strong leadership
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in DOT compliance, transportation safety, or a related logistics role
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and HOS regulations
  • Proficient in driver management systems and compliance tracking tools

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Includes visits to both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons of the year.  Normal working conditions will be in an office environment with above stated site visits.  Safety glasses with side shields and safety shoes with metatarsal protection will be required to enter certain areas as well as hearing protection.  Rare travel required. Good working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements for all practical purposes.

Light physical work where the major portion of the job is accomplished in a sitting position with occasional standing and walking. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to reach with hands and arms.  The incumbent will also be required to frequently use hands and fingers at the keyboard.  In addition, the incumbent may occasionally be required to bend or twist.  The employee must occasionally lift, pull or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
