1st Shift (5:00 am - 3:30 pm; M-T)

Starting Wage $21.82/hr

This position ensures the accuracy of work-in-process and raw material inventory records using cycle counting and transaction auditing tools, within the framework of the cycle counting standard work process. It is expected that this position demonstrates the core values of the Valmont Way and shows respect toward others. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Reconcile actual counts with specific work in process and raw material locations and inventory balances
  • Review inventory data for accuracy and compliance with procedures
  • Report results of audits and conditions causing errors and omissions in inventory transactions to appropriate management
  • Identify parts and/or specific locations of material to be audited and analyzed
  • Report incorrect or inadequate part identification found during audit process to the department lead or supervisor
  • Report damage or unusable inventory found during audit process to appropriate personnel
  • Assure that inventory transactions are processed appropriately
  • Perform follow-up and approval for work in process (WIP) audit adjustments
  • Analyze, document, investigate and report inventory discrepancies to identify reasons for variance
  • Inform and train operating personnel regarding inventory control methods and procedures as directed
  • Provide recommendations for innovations and improvements to all inventory processes, procedures and controls

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • 1+ year of relevant work experience
  • The ability to carry, lift or move up to 50 lbs. although the most frequent weight manipulated is under 20 lbs
  • Full proficiency in the use of a calculator, weigh counting scale and imperial tape measure
  • A working knowledge of e-mail
  • The ability to work in various climates including outdoors during inclement conditions
  • The ability to pass forklift certification requirements within 90 days
  • Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment and the ability to work on a Lean Team
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • The ability to work as a team member with production, planning and accounting groups reporting variances and identifying causes for variances
  • The ability to effectively interface with supervisors, set up and lead personnel, shop floor employees, production control, accounting and purchasing personnel
  • The ability to function independently
  • Analytical mindset with an ability and desire to solve problems.
  • Trained and experience in advanced Microsoft Excel applications, including the use of fomulas and macros.
  • Ability to solve basic math problems without a calculator.
  • Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to thrive in a high demand, high stress environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and accomplish objectives with little oversight.
