Education required: Master’s degree (ongoing or completed) in Physics, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline;
Other requirements preferred:
Knowledge of data‑driven or statistical modelling approaches
Experience with ODE/PDE numerical solving or CFD tools
Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE)
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in Italian and English
Expected Start date: April/May 2026
Internship period: 6 months (renewable)

What will you do?
Support the Process Engineering team within Global Drug Product (Technical R&D)
Evaluate state‑of‑the‑art modelling approaches for drug product unit operations
Develop mechanistic models for mixing, filtration, pumping, lyophilization, and freeze‑thaw processes
Generate and analyze experimental data to support model calibration and validation
Contribute to scale‑up and scale‑down strategy development
Apply the Model by First Intent (MbFI) approach to reduce experimental burden
Support experimental design and execution for process characterization
What will you learn?
Fundamentals of pharmaceutical drug product manufacturing processes
Development and validation of mechanistic process models
Integration of modelling and experimental data for process understanding
Application of scale‑up and scale‑down principles in an industrial setting
Use of analytical and process monitoring tools
Exposure to technology transfer activities within a global manufacturing network
Collaboration within a multidisciplinary, international R&D organization
What are we looking for?
Strong interest in pharmaceutical process engineering and modelling
Solid understanding of transport phenomena and thermodynamics
Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB for modelling and data analysis
Basic laboratory or experimental skills and data generation capability
Problem‑solving mindset with attention to scientific rigor
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Good communication skills and willingness to learn
Proactive attitude with growing autonomy over time
