The Intern will support the delivery of the Elizabeth Upgrade Project by assisting the Civil Manager, Building Engineer, and Yard Engineer across multiple workstreams, including civil infrastructure, buildings, and yard development.

This role provides hands-on exposure to large-scale terminal development, including design coordination, construction activities, and project controls. The intern will contribute to ensuring that project activities are delivered in line with scope, schedule, safety, quality, and budget objectives, while supporting coordination between consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Asset Delivery team in coordinating civil, building, and yard infrastructure activities across design and construction phases
  • Assist with tracking project progress against schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence
  • Support the review of design documents and technical submissions from consultants and contractors
  • Assist in identifying design coordination gaps, inconsistencies, or missing information using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Navisworks
  • Participate in site walks to observe construction activities, document findings, and track action items
  • Support HSSE activities by promoting safe work practices and participating in safety meetings and inspections

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline
  • Foundational understanding of civil engineering and construction principles, with interest in infrastructure and heavy civil works
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools is an advantage
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational project environment with a strong focus on safety and quality

Learning & Career Development
This internship provides direct exposure to asset delivery within a global port operator and is designed to build strong fundamentals in civil engineering, project coordination, and construction support. Many of our interns leverage this experience as a stepping stone toward future graduate or full-time engineering roles within APM Terminals.

FLSA Status : Non-exempt

Work Schedule: Interns will work full-time during the summer and part-time during the academic year. No overtime.

Salary: $25/HR
