About This Opportunity 

Support the University’s prospective international student recruitment goals by promoting the University across social media channels through executing a social media strategy that is aimed at increasing brand awareness, market penetration, international student enquiries and international student recruitment. This role takes responsibility for planning, creating and moderating brand and user-generated content targeted at international students for publishing across UQ’s social media channels.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Strategic Content Planning

  • Develop and execute an annual social media roadmap that engages international students, agents, and industry stakeholders across global and regional platforms.

Global Channel Management

  • Oversee UQ’s international social presence, coordinating with in-market representatives and external suppliers to ensure high-quality, on-brand content delivery.

Integrated Campaigns & Paid Social

  • Lead international social advertising for lead acquisition and remarketing, ensuring social media is seamlessly integrated into multi-channel marketing efforts.

Creative Tech & Analytics

  • Utilise AI-assisted tools and Adobe Creative Suite to produce visual assets and copy, while partnering with intelligence analysts to optimise performance against strict KPIs.

Social Listening & Community

  • Monitor global trends and competitor landscapes using social listening tools, while managing real-time engagement and responses from prospective students.

About You  

You are a digitally native communicator who understands that a "one size fits all" approach doesn't work for a global audience. You are as comfortable analysing engagement data as you are directing a student led video shoot.

Essential

  • Qualifications equivalent to an undergraduate degree in marketing, multimedia, communications or related field, or an equivalent experience combination of relevant experience and/or education training.

  • Proven success in managing high-growth social accounts across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, X, Instagram, Weibo, WeChat, and RED).

  • A strong portfolio in content creation, with a deep understanding of the balance between organic storytelling and paid acquisition strategies.

  • Proficiency in social analytics and listening tools to turn data into actionable marketing strategies.

  • Exceptional written skills and the ability to build relationships across a complex, multi-faculty environment.

Desirable

  • Mandarin Chinese language skills to effectively manage regional channels.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).

  • Knowledge of the international education sector and student decision-making journeys.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
