Safeguarding the financial health of our clients and Abarca is of the upmost importance! Our Finance team ensures that our financial systems are managed and running smoothly. Inside the Finance and Accounting team we have experts who handle our reporting costs, bookkeeping, financial statements and general cashflow. 

 As our Internal Auditoryou’ll support reviews of processes and internal controls over Abarcan operations and technology in scope for SOC 1, SOC 2, and other critical audits. You will plan and support the company-wide risk assessment exercise to guide internal audit interventions in support of a strong control environment.   

 

The fundamentals for the job… 

  • Execute audit procedures under established programs and guidance to ensure that control activities are properly designed and operating effectively in alignment with SOC 1 and SOC 2 guides.
  • Compile and update process documentation (flowcharts, narratives) for scoped processes on a regular basis.
  • Compile risk assessments for the company with the help of department leaders.  
  • Follow up with teams on work plans to prioritize risk mitigation strategies aligned with regulatory requirements and internal control objectives.
  • Identify control gaps and improvement opportunities during the process documentation and testing phases.
  • Meet on a regular basis with process owners to validate process operating effectiveness, to track remediation plan status, and brainstorm better ways to ensure control objectives are met.
  • Support coordination of documentation requests and walkthrough logistics with external auditors and the different operational areas.
  • Seek opportunities to automate manual audit activities.
  • Stay on top of industry, regulatory, and technological trends that may impact current control activities or require new ones to be designed and implemented.
  • Support cross-functional regulatory initiatives with the IT and Compliance teams.
  • Facilitate on-the-job training of process owners. 

 

 What  we expect of you 

The bold requirements…  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, or related field (In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant experience may be considered.)
  • 3+ years of experience in external/public accounting audit, internal audit, IT Security, or relevant PBM experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently
  • We are proud to offer a flexible hybrid work model which will require certain on-site work-days (Puerto Rico Location Only)
  • This position requires availability to work in a specified time zone or working schedule, accommodating the business needs of our clients and team members.
  • This position may require availability for on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to promptly address emergent issues or provide necessary support as dictated by operational demands (if applicable). 

Nice to have… 

  • CPA, CISA, or MBA
  • Big 4 firm, public company, PBM, or healthcare industry experience preferred. 

Physical requirements… 

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
