Summary: We are seeking an Internal Applications Architect with deep experience designing, building, and delivering enterprise‑scale software solutions, ideally within Payments and/or Financial Services. This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role for a technical leader who can own architecture and design decisions, guide complex implementations end‑to‑end, lead AI Adoption to improve delivery efficiency, and mentor engineers while remaining actively involved in development. You will work closely with product management and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across modern frameworks and enterprise integrations. This role is hybrid that will work onsite 2 days per week in our Plano, TX office. Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and architectural leadership for complex initiatives, including system design, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Guide adoption of AI‑assisted development and platform capabilities, establishing guardrails to improve productivity, quality, and system reliability.
  • Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, architectural standards, code reviews, and system documentation.
  • Identify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and security issues across application layers.
  • Champion automated testing and quality practices using appropriate frameworks for backend and frontend development.
  • Mentor and coach engineers across the team, raising overall technical capability and influencing engineering culture.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborate cross‑functionally, and help balance technical quality with delivery timelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of professional software development experience delivering production systems at scale.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership or architecture (e.g., solution architecture, lead engineer, or system design ownership).
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Java, including strong fundamentals in object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and performance tuning. Including with frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot and building RESTful APIs
  • Strong front‑end development experience using React, including component design and responsive UI development with TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and hands‑on experience working with SQL‑based databases (schema design, queries, indexing, and performance optimization).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and modern engineering workflows.
  • Proven experience with testing strategies and frameworks (e.g., JUnit for Java; Jest / React Testing Library for React).
  • Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot (or similar) both individually and across teams—leveraging AI to accelerate development, improve code quality, and streamline workflows, while helping establish shared practices, guardrails, and standards for secure and responsible use.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and tradeoffs to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building or integrating enterprise solutions with Microsoft Dynamics 365 including Microsoft Power Platform (i.e. Power Apps and Power Automate) for low‑code solutions with custom development.
  • Experience with Azure Integration Services, such as Azure Functions, Service Bus, and related messaging or workflow‑based integration patterns.
