The Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Intern will assist in the assessment and demonstration of evidence-based value of medical devices developed, manufactured and sold by BD. Working closely with HEOR Manager, Canada and other functional colleagues, the key responsibility of this role will be to assist in the design and execution of a variety of HEOR projects that can be utilized by the country to support priority BD business areas. This position is part of the Public Affairs team in the Canadian region.  This position requires working knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment, and ability to work effectively with multiple teams.Must be able to work onsite Monday through Thursday in our offices in Mississauga, ON, and work from home on Fridays, from May 11 to August 21, 2026.

Job responsibilities:

  • Review and synthesize data and findings from literature reviews, to identify strength of existing evidence that describes the clinical and economic burden of challenges that can be addressed with BD technologies and solutions 
  • Contribute to development and adaptation of health economics tools such as budget impact models and value dossiers to influence marketing, sales and reimbursement strategies 
  • Work in partnership with functional departments, including Medical Affairs and Marketing to ensure appropriate health economic value propositions are effectively incorporated 

Education and Experience required:

  • You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying undergraduate program (Bachelor’s) or graduate program (Master’s). Qualifying studies includes: 
  • Graduate: MSc, MPH, PharmD, PhD or equivalent health-care related program 
  • Bachelor’s: Health Economics; Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Public Health, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Data Science, or related field. 
  • Eligible candidates must be on track to graduate in 2026 or 2027 from an accredited university. 
  • Must be in good academic standing pursuing their degree (transcript may be required), combined with the ability to work from May 11 to August 21, 2026.  

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Experience in conducting literature searches and synthesizing findings from studies (including interpretation of statistical techniques and methods used) 
  • Familiarity with literature databases (e.g., PubMed, Embase) and referencing tools (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley) 
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and relationship building skills.  
  • Outstanding Analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize assignments. Strong time management and follow-up skills. Action oriented 
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal guidance and supervision 
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) 

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in similar roles, within the health-care industry is an asset   
  • Experience in developing HEOR studies and models is an asset 
  • Bilingual (English & French) preferred but not required

Our salary or hourly rate ranges reward associates fairly and competitively. We regularly review these ranges and factors, such as location, contribute to the range displayed. 

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role. 

Salary Range Information:  $24 Hourly
