Intern - Financial Analyst

Team Description

The team manages the FP&A processes and recurring tasks for our Corporate Staff groups, including Finance, Facilities, Accounting, Tax, Audit, and their respective sub-teams, People Team, Legal and Marketing, amongst others. We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team, supporting the Corporate Staff groups with a strong FP&A focus. Under general supervision, the person joining our team will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting moderately complex data sets and business results to provide meaningful insights and recommendations to the Finance and Staff teams. This role, will also be responsible for things such as yearly budgeting (Plan), monthly financial close tasks, and monthly forecasting activities for the different teams we support.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to interact with broad and diverse groups that are included in the Finance organization as a whole, as well as our Executive Leadership

Role and Responsibilities

  • Improve financial forecast by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to senior analysts and managers; perform financial analysis and accounting functions such as budget, spend, and forecast analysis using large amounts of data.
  • Prepare and analyze balances to create ad hoc presentations and/or accounting support such as accruals, journal entries, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to compile data from various sources and reconcile reporting between multiple data sets and tables.  For example, coordinate and reconcile financial information with sales and billing teams including identification, research and resolution.
  • Coordinate, analyze and deliver on our yearly budget planning, monthly forecasting, month-over-month reporting, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Student of careers such as Economics, Accounting, Administration or similar, or some prior experience in a related area.
  • Proficient computer software skills, with strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel confidently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Can handle workload effectively and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Can use procedures and good judgment when working individually.
  • Candidate must be detail oriented and accurate with good mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent follow-up/research skills.
  • Organizational skills and prioritization are key to the role.
  • Self-motivation, engagement and drive for results are highly valued.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to build the best working environment with a positive attitude.

The internship period is 6 months, with the possibility of extension. It is a part-time modality, with a daily commitment of 6 hours.
