Job Summary: You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST/DATA SCIENTIST in the Air Systems Group of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Readiness and Fleet Analytics (RFA) Division Technical Lead across four independent analytics branches.
  • You will provide technical direction, mentorship, and training, including providing hands-on guidance to a diverse and interdisciplinary workforce composed of data scientists, engineers, logisticians, and data analysts.
  • You will support and mentor readiness analysts, supply analysts, Smart data analysts, CBM+ IT developers, modeling and simulation developers, and software programmers both within and external to the division.
  • You will be responsible for identifying, scoping, and managing innovation initiatives that leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, and modern data science techniques to improve fleet readiness and operational outcomes.
  • You will lead the development and submittal of research proposals, securing funding from various sources and overseeing execution.
  • You will facilitate and assist the branch heads with the definition of requirements and identification of proper skill sets required to execute products and services within the division for our customers and the fleet.
  • You will possess expert-level knowledge of modern data architectures, including enterprise-scale data lakes, cloud-based environments, and associated services.
  • You will provide technical leadership in the domain of data engineering, including expertise with extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) processes essential to preparing data for analysis.

Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12/13) or pay band (DP-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST/DATA SCIENTIST. Specialized experience includes: 1) Demonstrates hands-on experience deploying or managing services within an AWS environment on specific projects, shows understanding of core services (e.g., EC2, S3). 2) Clearly describes experience translating complex technical strategies to both technical teams and non-technical leaders. 3) Experience architecting data pipelines or analytics solutions that integrate multiple NAVAIR data source, Understands the complexities of the NAVAIR data ecosystem. 4) Details experience leading complex technical projects (e.g., data migration, system integration), including planning, risk management, and full lifecycle responsibility.
