Job Summary
The Commissions Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day compensation activities for the Lion Street Management Team, Affiliate Firms, and Institutional Agents. This role provides exposure to commission processing, data analysis, and financial reporting, and is ideal for someone looking to begin their career in commission operations or financial analysis within the insurance and financial services industry.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with commission processing for Life and Institutional divisions
Reconcile sales data with commission statements and cash receipts to ensure accuracy
Maintain, update, and validate commission databases and supporting documentation
Support internal and external reporting related to compensation and commissions
Collaborate with commissions analysts across divisions and accounting staff to ensure accurate revenue recognition and recording
Identify and help resolve discrepancies, escalating issues as needed
Primary Skills & Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, basic data analysis); advanced skills a plus
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness and desire to learn new systems, processes, and industry concepts
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Exposure to Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus
Insurance or financial services internship or coursework preferred, but not required
