Job Description Summary:
A. JOB SUMMARY:
- Maintenance and installation work on wide range of highly specialized electronic, electrical (low and high-tension), electro-mechanical and pneumatic equipment associated with high-speed production process in a manufacturing environment.
- Provision of quality electrical/Instrumentation maintenance service to all departments in the plant to facilitate on-going improvement in plant performance with aim of achieving “WORLD CLASS” manufacturing status.
B. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE
- Conduct planned proactive maintenance on plant equipment, infrastructure and facilities.
- Attend to all breakdowns within minimum time period and according to safety procedures.
- Repair and fault find with respect to a fairly wide spectrum of electrical equipment and machinery including, motor control switch-gear isolators, line control switches, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, AC/DC power distribution systems and variety of lighting installations.
- Report all equipment faults using Job card system or any other approved system.
- Investigate the probability of future breakdowns and possible steps to avoid it (Failure Mode Analysis).
- Liaise with engineering team, to streamline fault-finding and minimize plant down time.
- Perform all electrical maintenance and repairs to a high standard of workmanship to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
- Liaise with the various suppliers for the ordering of spare parts.
- Carryout any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or his designate Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
INSTRUMENTATION MAINTENANCE
- Maintain in good working order all electronic process control equipment including, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) the various makes and models (Omron, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.), micro-processor driven closed loop controllers (pressure, level, flow temperature etc.), low voltage sensing devices and others.
- Ensure correct parameter settings in all software-controlled equipment e.g. D.C. speed control drives and A.C. frequency converters to ascertain the optimal performance of production line.
- Regularly check the calibration of electro/pneumatic process measurement and display instrumentation to verify accurate read-out of process variables e.g. I/P converters, pressure switches and electro/pneumatic valves.
- Repair electronic and electrical equipment wherever possible down to component level.
- Modify/replace outdated electronic equipment to improve line performance and facilitate better product handling and control.
- Service and maintenance of computerized level control equipment.
- Undertake mechanical, electrical and operational service and repair of all plant instruments.
- Source, assess suitability and advise on procurement of new instrumentation and electronic process control equipment as required by associate departments.
PROJECT AND INSTALLATION WORK
- Carry out all modifications as required by the business once the appropriate details, drawings, discussions and approvals for such modifications / alterations to the machinery have been issued.
- Design if within the scope of item (1) above and implement any necessary changes to production lines with view to optimizing manufacturing processes, liaising with relevant stakeholders.
- Carry out the feasibility/cost analysis studies before expediting any modifications or installations and submit these to the Maintenance Manager for evaluation and further approval by the Production / Engineering Manager.
- Accommodate all changes and modifications to factory premises and ensure that these changes to the facility, equipment / machinery are incorporated into the PM system.
- If within the scope of item (1) above design and manufacture Electrical/Instrumentation components. (It will not be the norm to design components)
- Undertake physical installations of equipment.
- Co-operate fully with consultants and contractors who are working on installations within the factory to ensure that The Coca-Cola Company standards are adhered to.
COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
- Utilize the PLC software development using dedicated programming languages (Telemecanique V2, V3, V4 Pro, Allen Bradley RSLogix, Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal) as required in plant.
- Backup all software and machine/controller parameters on removable discs (Memory stick, magnetic tape, stiffy disks or cloud) for archive purposes of archiving to ensure security and prevent loss of machine settings.
Other
- Carry out safety inspections as per requirements.
- Attend company and departmental meetings when required to do so.
- Fully participate in company initiatives such as TCCQS, Evolution 3, MRPII, SHEQ
- Ensure that at all times the quality of workmanship actively contributes to meeting The Coca-Cola Company Standards as well as those set by the Conco Engineering Department.
- Ensure that every effort is made to attaining the required company and departmental efficiencies.
Environmental Management, Occupational Health & Safety, and Food Safety & Quality
· Cooperate and follow instructions given by the employer (CCS Leadership Team), Commissioner of Labor, Inspector or any other person lawfully authorized to give such instructions in keeping the working conditions safe and without risk to health and injury in the field of that activity.
· Use, any means, appliance, equipment or other safety devise for securing safety and health as provided by the employer (CCS Leadership Team) for use and protection of the employee or property in any process as per the instructions given by the employer or any person lawfully authorized to do so.
- Report to the employer (CCS Leadership Team) any situation as soon as it becomes unsafe or unhealthy, or where an accident occurs report such accident to the employer or supervisor.
- Ensure adherence to Environmental management, occupational health and safety, Food safety and quality procedures, work instructions, and work aids and not compromise the environment, occupational health and safety, food safety and quality.
- Report all environmental, occupational health and safety, food safety and quality related incidents to their immediate supervisor without delay.
C. FINANCIAL/ JOB SCOPE:
- Control Process budget to be with allocation through alignment
- Review Open Purchase Orders weekly and feedback Finance on progress
- Ensure no orders are older than 3 months excluding those with exceptions
- Review asset register for your area and update accordingly
- Update AUC report and ensure timely submission
F. RELATED JOB REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment and common materials of the trade.
- Reading and interpretation of manuals and policies.
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical/electrical codes, standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of electrical application for high and low voltage electric systems.
- Skill in verbal and written communication.
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE
- +3 years relevant work experience
G. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed a relevant Apprenticeship Program with an added advantage in an FMCG Environment
- Engineering qualification, preferably a Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Automation Engineering.
H. CULTURAL DIVERSITY:
Oral and writing ability as required in site location (English and siSwati). Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and with users of many differing skill levels.

This position is twofold :
- There is an office component where no less than 30% of time is spent.
- The field work constitutes no less than 70% of the time, which is where there is the normal exposure to industrial hazards.
