The Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is currently seeking applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time Instructor of Mechanical Engineering. This position begins August 16, 2026 and includes teaching and service commitments over the 9-month academic year (August 16 – May 15). The appointment is for one academic year.
The successful candidate is expected to teach various courses in engineering and mechanical engineering as assigned by the Chair, including undergraduate lectures and laboratories, senior capstone design courses, and upper division and graduate program electives within the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates may be asked to help with the assessment of program-level student learning outcomes and with curriculum and course pedagogy updates.
Successful candidates must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, before the appointment commences. They must be committed to excellence in teaching our diverse student population and work to promote equitable and inclusive classrooms and collaboration spaces.
