The Instructional Designer I supports the development of classroom, hybrid or online courses. Assist in the development of training for faculty and/or staff in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred qualifications

  • 2 years of instructional design experience.

  • 2 years of experience with a Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Experience in applying accessibility standards (ADA Title II, WCAG)

  • Demonstrated proficiency using digital tools for on-demand course creation, such as video editing and embedded interactive content.

  • Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams to develop on-demand instructional materials.

 

Responsibilities

Course Design and Development

  • Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses.

  • Leads course design and development projects.

  • Assists with planning and coordinating accessible materials with course instructors, instructional design teams, and multimedia teams.

  • Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications.

  • Designs online modules and assists with course review.

  • Assists faculty throughout the design process and makes key recommendations based on best practices.

 

Faculty Training and Support

  • Consults and supports faculty and staff with instructional design.

  • Presents workshops and provides one-on-one training on various digital learning tools.

  • Develops trainings, in collaboration with the team, to assist faculty and staff in the development of sound instructional materials

  • Creates and reviews training documents and videos to support faculty in their use of digital learning initiatives.

  • Reviews assigned support tickets and responds accordingly.

  • Assists with ensuring that course materials are compliant with Title II of the ADA.  

 

Evaluation and Improvement

  • Evaluates instructional tools and software prior to implementation.

  • Reviews semester digital learning tool data on usage by faculty.

  • Recommends support focus and future tool usage based on trends and best practices.

  • Conducts analysis of support data and provides reports to relevant stakeholders.

 

Departmental Support

  • Coordinates and provides computer-based testing technology support for faculty and students.

  • Provides support and guidance in meeting accessibility standards for course materials and instructional content.

  • Completes special projects related to the digital learning environment as directed.
