Institutional Credit Management (ICM) is a first line of defense function (1LOD) that houses and consistently manages credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and the subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Banking, Services, and Markets relationships.
Citi is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the ICM team as an Underwriting Officer/ Analyst. The Underwriting Officer / Analyst will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment and management of credit risk associated with Citi's Large Corporates portfolio. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the prudent management of risk within a critical segment of the global economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of an Underwriter:
- Maintain coverage of a low-to-medium complexity portfolio of obligors and author timely and thorough Annual and Quarterly review memos
- Author low complexity Transaction memos
- Build projection models
- Monitor client portfolio by reading industry reports, analyzing financial filings, news, rating agencies’ reports
- Ensure consistence and accuracy on financial spreads and ratios throughout all monitoring memos
- Build projection models under the close guidance of an Underwriter
- Prepare accurate supporting documentation for internal credit ratings and classifications, utilizing appropriate internal models and analytical guidance
- Keep written commentary concise and focused throughout all monitoring memos
- Submit workflows in a timely manner and follow up with Risk or Underwriters for approval promptly
- Develop and demonstrate basic understanding of internal policies and procedures
- Ensure key tracked milestone deliverables are met and comply with key KPIs
- Ensure timely completion of remediations identified during the internal testing process
- Assist with ad hoc projects
- Timely completion of all mandatory compliance / analytical trainings
- Effectively communicate questions, concerns and/or potential delays pertaining to portfolio monitoring with Underwriters

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3 -6 years of experience
- A strong foundation in financial analysis, including basic knowledge in interpreting financial statements and identifying key risk indicators
- Foundational understanding of financial modeling and valuation techniques
- Foundational understanding of standard product documentation (ISDAs, credit/facility agreements, amongst others)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
