Inspection Technician – Marathon Pipe Line
The Inspection Technician position is the onsite safety and construction quality control (QC) representative for Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) projects. In this role, the Inspection Technician ensures contractors adhere to Marathon standards and project specifications. The Inspection Technician is the primary point of contact for field construction and helps coordinate onsite resources with the project team. Typical responsibilities of this position include:
An Inspection Technician will become familiar with all aspects of pipeline construction and maintenance, including excavation, welding, bolting, pipefitting, and coating. Experience with software such as Adobe, Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn and use new software and applications is required. Good communication skills are necessary for relaying information to and from the project team. Industry certifications such as AWS CWI, AMPP CIP, API 1169, API 1184, SCAQMD Rule 463/1178 are preferred.
The position will require daily travel to and from the worksite with occasional overnight hotel stays. MPL will furnish a company vehicle, all inspection equipment, personal protective equipment, and cover all travel expenses.
Education & Experience: High School Diploma/GED required along with two years or more work experience in the pipeline/oil and gas industry or an associate degree in an industrial technical field.
Travel Required: Up to 95% daily travel; up to 5% overnight travel. Driver’s license is required.
