Infrastructure Support Engineer

The Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, networks, security systems, and backup solutions. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of core IT services while supporting ongoing projects and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Server, Virtualization & Systems Management

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware, Proxmox, and KVM.
  • Manage physical and virtual server lifecycles, including provisioning, patching, performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Administer Windows Server, Windows Endpoint OS, and Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux).
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and domain-related services.

2. Backup, Recovery & Data Protection

  • Administer Veeam Backup & Replication, including job configuration, replication, recovery, and DR testing.
  • Ensure integrity and availability of backup data and contribute to disaster recovery planning.

3. Containerization & Cloud-Native Systems

  • Provide support and basic administration for Kubernetes (K8s) clusters.
  • Troubleshoot pod/service issues, manage resources, and support containerized application deployments.

4. Networking & Security Operations

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls (Palo Alto, FortiGate), including security policies, VPNs, NAT, and threat prevention.
  • Manage and configure Layer 2/3 switching technologies, including VLANs, LACP, trunking, and routing.
  • Support Zero Trust Network Access platforms such as Zscaler or Netskope.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to ensure stability, security, and optimal performance.

5. Monitoring, Maintenance & Operations

  • Implement and manage infrastructure monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
  • Respond to alerts, perform root cause analysis, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, patch management, and capacity planning.

6. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 2/3 escalation support for server, network, security, and system-related incidents.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, network diagrams, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate closely with IT security, application teams, and support teams to resolve cross-functional issues.

7. Project Delivery & Infrastructure Planning

  • Support new project initiatives by deploying required infrastructure and ensuring readiness of server, network, and security components.
  • Recommend and design infrastructure architectures based on project needs, performance goals, and best practices.
  • Participate in project planning, risk assessments, and post-deployment reviews.

Requirements

  • 2 year of experience with VMware/Proxmox/KVM virtualization.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux administration.
  • 2 years of Hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, routing, and Zero Trust security platforms.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native environments.
  • Familiarity with Veeam Backup or similar enterprise backup tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
