What You’ll Be Doing
At CIBC, we are building the bank of the future, and we invite you to be part of our journey. As an Infrastructure Product Owner (Linux/Unix), you will shape the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise Linux/Unix platform capabilities that underpin critical business services. You will work with infrastructure engineering, security, operations, and application partners to translate platform needs into a prioritized backlog, drive outcomes that improve stability, performance, and compliance, and ensure the platform meets established controls, standards, policies, and procedures. The role provides technical leadership, interpreting complex information and coordinating client, provider, and vendor relationships to meet and manage service expectations, aligned to best practices.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
How You’ll Succeed
Product Backlog – Work closely with business partners and technology teams to gather and refine complex requirements for Linux/Unix platform services (standard builds, lifecycle/patching, hardening, access, and platform tooling). Define product vision and delivery priority considering strategic alignment, risk, scope, and complexity.
Collaboration – Partner with Linux/Unix infrastructure engineers, SRE/DevOps teams, security, and lines of business to create user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans. Enable iterative delivery and continuous improvement, removing blockers and aligning teams to shared outcomes.
Stakeholder Communication - Ensure delivery of the right Linux/Unix initiatives at the right time by keeping stakeholders informed and engaged across the lifecycle (roadmap, release, change, and operations). Manage competing priorities by aligning expectations on timelines, risk, and service impact.
Subject Matter Expertise - Bring strong Linux/Unix platform knowledge to support end-to-end delivery, including patching/vulnerability remediation, baseline hardening, performance, and observability. Guide cross-functional teams through operational and process challenges, ensuring solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned to audit/compliance requirements.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate 10+ years of experience working with enterprise Linux/Unix platforms (e.g., RHEL, AIX, Solaris/HP-UX) in infrastructure engineering and/or operations. You have a strong understanding of OS lifecycle management (standard builds, configuration, patching, vulnerability remediation, and hardening), along with foundational knowledge of networking, storage, and monitoring/observability. You have experience translating platform needs into a prioritized backlog, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and partnering with delivery teams using Agile ways of working. Familiarity with automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible), IT service management practices (incident/problem/change), and regulated/audited environments is an asset.
You are an Excellent Communicator. You have solid written and oral communication skills and an ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation as well as express oneself and communicate with others verbally; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.
You have ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities. Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation.
You have decision making and critical thinking skill. You have knowledge of tools and techniques for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks and perspectives when solving problems.
You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
Values matter to you - You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.
