Pay Range
$20.00/ hour

You are between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible).

About the Role
The Information Systems Technical Specialist (Canada Summer Jobs) will support VHA’s Digital Solutions and Support team with day‑to‑day technology and system support. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate who is interested in health care technology and wants hands‑on experience working with real enterprise systems.
In this role, you will learn how large organizations manage applications, users, data, and system connections while being supported by experienced technical staff. You’ll help keep systems running smoothly so our clinical and corporate teams can focus on providing excellent care.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration
Maintain and configure enterprise applications (e.g., EHR, HRIS, ERP).
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
Perform regular system updates and patches.
Network & Connectivity Support:
Ensure secure connectivity between systems (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow).
Troubleshoot network-related issues impacting application performance.
Collaborate with Infrastructure team for VPN, firewall, and routing changes.
Data Management:
Monitor data integrity and security across integrated systems.
Support data migration and synchronization between platforms.
Implement backup and recovery procedures.
Integration & API Management
Configure and maintain system integrations (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow, Webex).
Validate API connectivity and troubleshoot failures.
Document integration workflows for compliance.
Incident & Problem Resolution:
Act as Tier 2/3 escalation for application-related issues.
Analyze root causes and implement permanent fixes.
Maintain incident logs and resolution documentation.
Compliance & Security:
Ensure systems adhere to organizational security policies.
Monitor for unauthorized access or anomalies.
Support audits and generate compliance reports.
Project Support (Limited Scope):
Provide connectivity and integration support when requested.
Clarify boundaries: Not responsible for full application deployment or configuration unless explicitly assigned.
Key Skills, Experience and Behaviours Required for this Position:
Currently studying or recently completed a program in IT, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field
Basic knowledge of IT systems, applications, or technical support
Comfortable following instructions, documenting work, and troubleshooting issues
Interest in healthcare technology and learning enterprise systems
Organized, reliable, and able to work well in a team
Professional, respectful, and mindful of data privacy and confidentiality
