About This Opportunity
We are currently hiring an Information Security Intern for a summer term position, from May 2026 to August 2026 (4months), at our Hitachi Rail office in Toronto.
The successful student will report to the Chief Information Security Officer to support on multiple security initiatives in order to protect the business against threats, including Vulnerability Management, Identity and Access Management, Incident Response, Risk assessment and Threat management.
With offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and New York, our office spaces were designed to provide a sustainable, healthy workplace that increases collaboration. Features include Greenguard furniture, EnergyStar appliances, low-emitting adhesives, sealants, and sliding glass doors on internal offices provide daylight and views to the outside.
Key Accountabilities
Support the Chief Information Security Officer in accessing internal documentation, including policies and procedures, in alignment with global requirements.
Collaborate with risk owners to review and reassess identified risks.
Work cross-functionally with multiple teams to evaluate operational impacts and estimate required effort.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate should be working towards a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science (or a related field), or equivalent work experience
Completion of the second or third year of your undergraduate degree
Demonstrate knowledge on information security frameworks such as ISO27001
Understand cybersecurity process and procedures as well as IT operations
Communication, negotiation and analytical skills
Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented, with organizational skills to manage assigned work to completion
The ability to work 40 hours a week in a hybrid environment for the duration of the internship is essential. At least 2 days a week in the office.
Preferred Qualifications
Understand usage and applicability on the following systems, in addition: GRC solutions, NIST top 20 controls, OWASP Top 10, ISO27001
Co-op student available for a 4-month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship.
Previous co-op or internship experience is a plus, or relevant school projects may be considered.
