We’re currently hiring for an IRM (Information Risk Management Officer) role within our Non-Financial Risk Management Tribe at ING Netherlands, a chance to gain hands-on experience, expand your expertise, and make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, translating complex IT risks into clear, actionable guidance that enables them to identify and mitigate risks effectively. You’ll operate as a Second Line of Defence (2LoD) risk specialist, working closely with Operational Risk Management (ORM) professionals, the Operational Design Control Resilience (ODCR) team, the CISO team, Group Risk, and our global Risk Hubs. The Team

The Information Risk Management (IRM) team comprises 10 members, representing a diverse range of expertise across various IT risk domains. Additionally, we have two colleagues working at our Madrid Risk Hub. We are part of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) tribe based in Amsterdam, which consists of 39 colleagues in total.

As a member of the IRM (Information Risk Management) team, your focus will be on Information Technology and Continuity Risk. This team offers the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled professionals, gain deep insights into IT risk management, and grow in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Roles and responsibilities

As Information Risk Management Officer you would:

  • Perform Second Line of Defence (2LoD) IRM responsibilities, including challenge and advisory activities related to IT and Continuity risks for Tribe Digital & Customer Interaction.

  • Author the quarterly IT Risk Opinion, keeping track of internal deadlines, reviewing content for accuracy and completeness, and ensuring consistent messaging across all IT Risk Areas.

  • Act as IT Risk Area Champion for Identity and Access Management and/or IT Resilience;

  • Promoting secure practices within the tech community;

  • Identifying IT and Continuity risks and proposing solutions;

  • Challenging mitigation strategies for effectiveness;

  • Maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the risk landscape;

  • Monitoring emerging threats and changes in the business environment to maintain a dynamic and responsive risk posture;

  • Raising awareness of risks across the organization through engagement, communication, and training;

  • Investigating potential risks or control failures.

We are looking for a team member with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Can manage multiple tasks under pressure;

  • Is eager to learn and understand banking processes;

  • Takes a solution-oriented approach to risk management;

  • Demonstrates accountability and ownership of their actions and results.

  • Is skilled in writing and reporting, with a keen eye for clarity and impact;

  • Is naturally curious and driven to improve risk practices through innovation, including GenAI;

  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management is a plus.

  • Has knowledge of networking, including cloud and security technologies;

  • Possesses or is working toward an IT-related risk management qualification such as CISM, CISSP, CCSP, or RE (considered a strong plus);

  • Is adaptable and solution-oriented, able to make things work even in complex environments;

  • Is fluent in English (Dutch is a plus);

  • Lives the Orange Code values, inside and outside of work.
