Job Description: Indirect Tax Compliance Reviewer
Location- Bengaluru
Role Overview:
Support the Indirect Tax Team by reviewing, validating, and approving indirect tax compliance reports and filings (VAT, GST) prepared by the compliance preparers for EMEA/APAC region. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with local and global tax regulations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver high-quality, timely tax filings and support audit readiness.
Flexibility to work remotely and hybrid model, with on-site presence as required by business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Indirect Tax Review & Validation
• Review data reconciliations and draft indirect tax compliance reports submitted by preparers.
• Validate accuracy and completeness of VAT/GST returns and related filings before approval and submission.
• Ensure supporting documentation aligns with tax filings and audit requirements.
• Approve reconciliations and compliance reports, escalating issues to managers or local contacts as needed.
• Monitor and support the resolution of discrepancies or variances identified during the review process.
Audit Support & Risk Management
• Provide review-level support for indirect tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
• Ensure audit trails and documentation are complete and accessible.
• Identify and escalate compliance risks or issues requiring further investigation.
Process Improvement
• Recommend enhancements to indirect tax compliance processes based on review findings.
• Lead implementation of new regulatory requirements and system updates.
Collaboration
• Work closely with preparers, managers, and other business functions to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.
• Liaise with external compliance providers and local contacts as required.
Ownership Approach
Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver results with urgency.
Respond to setbacks with resilience and a commitment to improvement.
Seek and provide constructive feedback to support team development.
Technical Knowledge & Experience
• Overall, 5-7years of experience with minimum5 years of experience in indirect tax compliance or review, preferably in a multinational environment or shared service center or Big 4 (EMEA/APAC).
• Strong understanding of VAT/GST return preparation, review, and submission processes.
• Experience with tax software and ERP systems such as SAP, OneSource, or Deloitte ITC tool preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally on technical matters.
Education & Additional Qualification
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field. MBA preferred
• Fluent in English is required, additional languages a plus.
