The Role
The primary responsibility of this role as part of the Record to Report Accounting (RTR) team based in India is to deliver quality accounting services for Warner Bros. Discovery entities. Key aspects of this role are related to transactions processing or review (primarily manual journal entry posting or review), reconciliation preparation or review and analysis, by applying SOX controls in fulfilling daily and periodic quality requirements. Results of the individual work must result in accurate and timely month end close and financial information for key stakeholders within Organization. Reporting into RTR Manager to support accounting by acting as one team.
What you will be doing:
- Proactively leading and/or performing the period-end closing and operational activities in accordance with US GAAP including providing month-end BS and P&L trend analysis commentary for Controllership.
- Performing/ Reviewing periodic Account Reconciliations ensuring accuracy, quality completeness various categories of Balance Sheet accounts e.g. Payroll, Bank, Lease, Intercompany and Fixed Assets
- Manage fixed assets transactions in SAP including asset creation, adding acquisition cost, depreciation run and retirement/disposals. Monitor & Review Capital Work in Progress (CWIP) and work closely with projects manager to ensure timely capitalization with proper useful life & asset classification.
- Computing intercompany recharges as per IC agreements, preparing intercompany invoices for all IC charge out, posting intercompany journal entries, investigating & resolving intercompany out of balance, and preparing monthly intercompany settlement & co-ordinate with the treasury to settle the IC positions.
- Ensuring all accounting activity is properly documented and supported in accordance with SOX controls/ ICFR and WBD policies
- Assisting with internal and external financial and compliance Audits, including SOX/ ICFR and prepare audit schedule such as Fixed Assets Register, Payroll Register vs GL reconciliation, Interest Income Reconciliation, Statutory Dues Schedules, Prepayment schedules, Intercompany reconciliation
- Lease set up in SAP for US GAAP accounting and Ad hoc analysis of various types of financial information as requested by the stakeholders
- Partnering with other Teams e.g. PTP, OTC, Treasury, FP&A, Controllership, Banks, Tax, Payroll, other Record to Report team members and proposing improvements
- Lead cross department meetings, prepare agendas, schedule meetings, document and track action items. Escalate issues as appropriate. Own issues and drive issue resolution.
- Perform special or routine projects or duties as assigned.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s & CA (Inter) or master’s degree in accounting or finance, CMA/CIMA (CA, CPA will be plus) and at least 5-8 years of accounting experience in international environment.
- Having as exposure of leading/ Mentoring team of 2-4 resources will be added advantage.
- Strong practical and theoretical accounting knowledge
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficient and experienced in MS Office applications and especially should have strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with enterprise information systems, (SAP) a strong plus and preferred
- High Integrity team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with others and promote positive working relationships across the organization.
- Motivated by challenging, high-energy, flexible environment. Ability to work under conditions of pressure and adjust to urgent and changing situations
