AEP is recruiting for a Senior or Principal Tax Analyst to become part of its Corporate Tax team with a focus on Property Tax. This position supports AEP's growth initiatives and aligns with the organization's objective to establish itself as a leading electric utility company in the United States.

Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and review state and local property tax returns, reports, estimates, work papers, and analyses.
  • Develop property tax schedules for financial reports, forecasts, regulatory filings, and special studies.
  • Manage property tax accounting activities, including related reconciliations
  • Process property tax payments and negotiate property values with state and local tax jurisdictions.
  • Leverage data analytics and AI to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of existing processes.
  • Monitor property tax developments and assess their impact on the company.
  • Conduct and supervise tax research, planning, and risk identification related to business activities.
  • Advise business partners on property tax matters for new business ventures and evolving corporate structures.
  • Participate in state and local tax audit processes, including responding to auditor questions.
     

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems, asset management systems, forecasting software, and data analytic tools (Power Query, Alteryx).
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and team members.
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking capabilities.
     

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate Degree valued.
  • Tax Analyst Senior: Minimum 3 years’ experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines, with at least 2 years of indirect tax functions.
  • Tax Analyst Principal: Minimum 5 years’ experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines, with at least 3 years of indirect tax functions.
  • Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, CIA) are valued but not required.
     

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $85,081 – $124,941 (depending on experience and skill set)
  • Annual bonus (short-term incentive)

  • Retirement plans: 401K and AEP Pension


Location & Schedule

  • On-site at AEP Headquarters in Columbus, OH
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week

Compensation Range:

$87,633.00 - $128,688.00
