Citigroup Global Markets Limited ("CGML") develops a range of rules-based investment strategy Indices and offers investment solutions for both institutional and retail investors, enabling exposure to investment allocation strategies through Index-linked financial products. These strategies target cross-asset investment themes, leveraging a full spectrum of financial instruments, and seek to respond to investors' needs for innovation, risk mitigation, transparency in systematic investments, and to balance efficient implementation with solid investment rationale.
CGML is recognized as an Administrator of Indices within the definition of a "Benchmark" as set out in the Global Financial Benchmark Administration Policy. It holds primary responsibility for all aspects of the Benchmark Administration process, including development, determination, dissemination, and governance.
Citi Investment Strategies ("CIS"), a division within CGML's derivatives and structured financial products businesses, is responsible for developing Index ideas focused on systematic, rules-based, investable investment strategy Indices. The Index Oversight Group ("IOG") provides governance and internal oversight for all aspects of CGML's Benchmark Administration activities.
Responsibilities
The Citi Benchmark Administration ("BAT") team, part of Citi Global Markets’ Markets Quantitative Analysis division ("Citi MQA") and independent from "CIS", is responsible for:
Implementing Index ideas in the form of investable indices.
Testing Index methodologies.
Managing benchmark determination and dissemination processes, including ongoing calculation, publication, and maintenance of benchmarks.
BAT is a global team with offices in London, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New York, and Buffalo. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Mumbai team with primary responsibilities including:
Ongoing Index Maintenance: Calculating indices in accordance with Index conditions documents, reconciling Index levels prior to dissemination, and reporting for cross-asset benchmarks, all while adhering to benchmark administration policies and control frameworks.
Process Improvement: Collaborating with the existing team to develop and enhance Benchmark Index and risk control processes.
Data Management & Ownership: This includes internal financial instrument maintenance, cross-vendor identifier mapping, and market data maintenance (prices, corporate events, exchange calendars).
Automation & Development: Contributing to process improvements across team activities, including the automation of models and the development of internal Python libraries.
Knowledge Development: Deepening understanding of Index calculation models.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics) is mandatory.
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated experience interacting with databases, preferably within a finance-related field.
Mandatory hands-on experience with the MS Office suite.
Essential understanding of databases and SQL.
Essential programming experience in Python.
Knowledge of corporate event handling in Indices would be beneficial.
Prior experience working with financial Indices is a plus.
Knowledge of Market Data services (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) would be advantageous.
