Index Licensing Operations Associate

About this role

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to be part of our Index Licensing Operations (ILO) team. This team member will be aligned to specific index vendors to develop a deep understanding of their specific reporting requirements and fee structures and will be the operational face to the vendor. They will assist with evolving ILO processes and tools that drive index usage reporting and invoicing each quarter. They will also help with key initiatives to drive technology, streamline processes, and enhance quality control measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with remote Index Licensing Operations production team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quarterly reports and invoice payments, and act as point of escalation when needed
  • Be a subject matter expert for assigned vendors and the point of contact for reporting sign-off, questions, and contract implementation
  • Understand material changes to BlackRock’s vendor relationships and proactively update report and fee calculation processes accordingly
  • Review new and existing index licensing contracts and understand fee structures and reporting requirements
  • Support the technology platform initiatives by assisting with operational process optimization projects and quality control designs
  • Develop a keen understanding of factors that impact index licensing and apply that knowledge to identify ways to enhance and streamline processes
  • Expand and evolve reporting capabilities to achieve reporting due dates and changing requirements
  • Build relationships with index providers and BlackRock teams globally to deepen external and internal partnerships
  • Collaborate with and influence internal teams to complete strategic projects designed to improve the platform
  • Research and resolve inquiries from internal partners and vendors and actively follow up to ensure timely resolution

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, math, or a related field
  • 3+ years of related experience in the Financial Services industry, including an understanding of portfolio and index data analysis; knowledge of the passive investing business (including ETFs) preferred
  • Advanced Excel knowledge is required
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), comfortable interacting with and influencing a broad range of audiences
  • Proven ability to quickly learn proprietary systems (BlackRock’s own and third-party platforms); knowledge of the Aladdin platform and ability to source data efficiently is preferred
  • Bold and proactive with a willingness to stretch outside comfort zone
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize and deliver multiple assignments while maintaining high quality and consistent results

For Princeton, NJ Only the salary range for this position is USD$95,000.00 - USD$127,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
