Job Description

Overview 

The Independent Raters will facilitate and score classroom observations in early care and education programs (i.e., child care centers, preschools, home-based family care), using the ECERS-3, ITERS-3, and/or FCCERS-3 observation protocols. Temporary, Independent Rater positions report to the CREEHS the Grow NJ Kids Classroom Observation Coordinator. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

● Establish and maintain reliability on ECERS-3, ITERS-3, and/or FCCERS-3 classroom observation scales 

● Participate in all required project training 

● Schedule visits with early care and education (ECE) center-based, school-based, and/or home-based family care programs 

● Conduct classroom observations at ECE program sites in a professional and confidential manner 

● Score classroom observation scales, and share observation data and program feedback with CREEHS 

● Maintain communication with CREEHS project team 

● Perform other duties as assigned 

Hours 

● Temporary position, up to 25 hours per week 

● Note that classroom observations typically take place Monday through Friday between 8 am-12 pm 

Qualifications Required 

● Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an Associate degree in early childhood education or a related field 

● 1 or more years of professional experience in ECE settings 

● Demonstrated familiarity with Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS-3, ITERS-3, FCCERS-3) 

● Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to program sites around NJ in own vehicle (mileage and tolls to be reimbursed) 

Preferred 

● Spanish fluency 

● Previously established reliability with Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS-3, ITERS-3, FCCERS-3) 

● Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field 

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

● Strengths both as a team player and a self-starter 

● Strong organizational and time management skills 

● Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse populations

Salary Range

$33.00-$33.00 Hourly
