Income Tax Accountant

Job Summary

Continental’s Tax Department plays a critical role in supporting the company’s growth by ensuring accurate and timely income tax reporting, tax compliance, and tax planning across all operations. To support Continental’s continued expansion, the department is seeking an experienced Income Tax Accountant to focus on federal state and foreign income tax matters, enhance the quality of tax accounting and compliance, and provide proactive support and analysis to business and asset teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares federal, state, and foreign income tax returns and related filings, including various domestic and foreign income tax and related reporting for assigned entities.
  • Supports the preparation of foreign information returns and other foreign tax reporting obligations, including income tax withholding returns, value-added tax, gross receipts taxes, and foreign income tax filings.
  • Assists with partnership tax compliance, including partner allocations, basis tracking, and required disclosures.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and reconciles financial data used in tax calculations, workpapers, and schedules.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed tax workpapers, schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Assists with quarterly and annual income tax provision support.
  • Prepares income tax payments and estimates in accordance with filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Assists in responding to tax notices, information requests, and inquiries from taxing authorities.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and enhancements to internal controls over tax reporting and supports implementation of changes.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and domestic and foreign external advisors, including consultants, to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum three (3) or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domestic and foreign income tax experience.
  • Oil & gas industry experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
