Job Description & summary:
we have realized that sustainability-led transformation requires multiple competencies to collaborate to drive value for organizations. In our efforts to streamline collaboration, PwC has launched the ESG Platform that brings multiple sustainability-led competencies together – from Strategy to Reporting, and from Deals to Governance.
This role focuses on leveraging chemical engineering domain knowledge and data analytics to drive manufacturing efficiency, process optimization, energy performance, and sustainability outcomes across industrial clients.
Responsibilities:
You’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
Sector Specific Skills:
- Analyze process, production, yield, quality, and energy consumption data from chemical manufacturing operations.
- Develop interactive dashboards and analytical reports to generate insights into plant operations and leadership teams.
- Support process optimization, debottlenecking, and predictive maintenance initiatives across continuous and batch processes.
- Work closely with process engineers, operations teams, and EHS teams to identify inefficiencies, losses, and improvement opportunities.
- Perform risk assessment and process risk analysis using tools such as FMEA and HAZOP support analytics.
- Apply process simulation and modeling concepts (mass & energy balances, reaction kinetics, separation efficiencies) to validate analytical insights.
- Integrate data from process sensors, DCS/SCADA systems, historians, LIMS, and ERP systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations, off-spec product generation, and energy performance gaps.
- Contribute to sustainability reporting, including energy efficiency, emissions tracking, water usage, waste generation, and regulatory disclosures.
- Apply statistical and advanced analytics techniques to monitor KPIs such as yield, conversion efficiency, defect rates, and utility consumption.
- Support digital manufacturing initiatives, including Industry 4.0, smart plants, AI-led optimization, and advanced process control enablement.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mandatory skill sets:
- Experience in chemical manufacturing operations, including reaction processes, separations, utilities, and plant operations.
- Exposure to process industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, polymers, pharmaceuticals, or FMCG manufacturing.
- Programming: Python, SQL, Excel.
- Visualization: Power BI, Tableau.
- Statistical Tools: Minitab, R.
- Industrial Systems: DCS/SCADA, process historians, MES, and ERP integration.
- Analytics: Time-series analysis, anomaly detection, multivariate analysis, process modeling, and optimization techniques.
Preferred skill sets:
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities with a process-focused mindset.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical insights clearly to diverse stakeholder groups.
- Curiosity and interest in digital manufacturing, process innovation, and sustainability technologies.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, TPM, or energy management systems (ISO 50001).

Education qualification:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Data Science, or related fields.
- Certifications in data analytics or industrial automation are a plus.
