This is a great opportunity for a 5 years PQE solicitor to join the legal team at Virgin Media.
Virgin Media operates in a complex, highly competitive and regulated telecoms and broadcasting market in which a broad range of issues impact on strategic and business development.
We’re looking for someone with a strong sense of commercial awareness and ability to understand and analyse technical business concepts. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
We are seeking a skilled commercial lawyer to join our dynamic in-house legal team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. Reporting to the Legal Director, primary responsibilities will involve providing pragmatic legal advice and drafting support across a broad range of commercial matters within a fast-paced telecommunications environment.
Accountable for complex commercial legal matters of significant strategic and/or financial value, identifying risk, escalating as appropriate, recommending mitigation and implementing solutions.
Negotiation of commercial contracts including supplier arrangements, contracts for software, hardware and middleware, interconnect supply and technical delivery and dealings with outsource partner(s) and other material suppliers.
Partner closely with key commercial and operational stakeholders to provide proactive legal advice and support on business growth initiatives, including new products, services, partnerships and strategic projects, ensuring legal risk is managed while enabling timely and commercially sound decision‑making.
Lead all legal work for the Wholesale and Business Enterprise teams, including negotiation of customer contracts, assessment of legal risk and delivery of practical, solutions‑focused advice.
Provide commercial and regulatory legal advice across the business on marketing, advertising, customer communications and consumer protection.
5 years Post Qualified Experience
Experienced lawyer with proven track record of diverse significant experience in commercial transactions and demonstrable legal expertise, gained in private practice and/or in-house
Excellent commercial judgment and provision of practical solutions
Experience advising telecommunications companies which was gained in private practice and/or in- house an advantage
Strong knowledge of the Irish legal and regulatory framework applicable to telecommunications businesses, with the ability to analyse its impact on commercial arrangements and provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to the business.
Solid negotiation, technical and drafting skills, with an exceptional ability to attend to detail
Strong commercial acumen and an interest in working across all areas in the business
Experience working in a fast-paced organisation, managing multiple priorities and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
An ability to balance the need to use initiative while working collaboratively as part of a team
The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the business while ascertaining the key impact/detail behind the issue/request.
