As an In-house Lawyer (Legal Counsel), you will provide expert legal advice, with a focus on reviewing and negotiating contracts, and advising the business in day-to-day operations. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing policies that minimize legal and commercial risks. You will apply independent judgment in determining the necessary actions and offer recommendations on various matters, including policies and complex legal issues. You will work closely with the business to ensure we are both successful and profitable.
The position is within the Eastern Europe & Mediterranean (EEM) Frontline, which comprises 16 countries. Your main focus and area of responsibility will be Bulgaria, along with monitoring Romania and other countries. This means you will work in an international environment, close to business operations, while still being involved in high-level development projects as part of the EEM legal team.
Advise the organization on legal matters as needed.
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
Be actively involved in the business activities of the region to ensure legal operations are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in compliance with corporate policies and local laws/regulations.
Resolve legal disputes and develop, maintain, and update relevant legal guidelines, focusing on preventing legal and contractual issues.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations and advise on how they affect KONE.
Collaborate with business colleagues to achieve targeted business results while managing legal risks.
Maintain strong connections with KONE colleagues to share best practices and understand current and future needs.
Provide training on legal areas impacting KONE’s business.
Supervise legal firms and external lawyers in jurisdictions other than Bulgaria.
Support M&A-related matters.
A university degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent).
3–5 years of relevant experience as either in-house counsel or an attorney in a law firm.
Experience in construction law and local industry standard terms and conditions will be a strong advantage.
Fluency in Bulgarian and English. Romanian and other languages are an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal, project execution, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to take initiative in proactively resolving legal issues.
Experience with employment law, M&A, and dispute resolution issues will be considered additional assets.
International work and/or study experience is a plus.
