IM&S Senior Sourcing Specialist – SEA Malaysia & Thailand

Location: Bangkok (MSD Office)
Function: Global Supply Chain / Indirect Procurement
Reporting to: IM&S Sr. Project Sourcing Specialist, Thailand

Role Summary

A senior individual‑contributor role responsible for leading strategic IM&S sourcing across Malaysia and Thailand. The position drives category strategies, supplier consolidation, governance, and regional alignment with global programs. Strong analytical skills, stakeholder influence, and proactive Early Procurement Involvement (EPI) are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Category Leadership

  • Own and execute IM&S category strategies for Malaysia and Thailand.
  • Manage OPEX & CAPEX categories including equipment, technical services, facility services, MRO, spares, energy, packaging, lab consumables, logistics, and office supplies, etc.
  • Drive long‑term value through optimization, supplier consolidation, and strategic development.

Procurement Governance & EPI

  • Ensure early engagement with business units to influence specifications and cost outcomes.
  • Lead procurement governance, vendor onboarding, and compliance checks.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong partnerships with senior stakeholders across both countries.
  • Aligning with strategic stakeholders to support sourcing decisions.
  • Provide guidance on procurement policies, supplier risk, and market intelligence.

Sourcing Execution & Supplier Management

  • Lead complex sourcing projects, high‑value negotiations, and commercial decisions.
  • Conduct cost breakdowns and apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) methods.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective or improvement actions.

Process Excellence & Reporting

  • Manage all SAP Ariba procurement processes for Malaysia and Thailand.
  • Improve procurement quality and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, preferably within major indirect categories (e.g., MRO, packaging, facility management, logistics, IT services, lab consumables, PPE, tail spend items).
  • Proven category management and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrated success in EPI, governance, and influencing specification decisions.
  • Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills (spend analytics, price benchmarking, should-cost analysis).
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and business English.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP ERP and SAP Ariba (Guided Buying, SLP, Sourcing module).
  • Professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, or equivalent).
  • Multinational/regional procurement exposure.

Business Travel Requirement

Supports both Malaysia and Thailand, with 15–20% travel for:

  • Supplier visits, site assessments, and negotiations
  • Cross‑functional project meetings
  • Regional sourcing initiatives and governance activities

Travel frequency may vary depending on project phases, supplier engagements, and regional business needs.
