De functie
Als HVAC Integration Engineer (HVAC Systems Engineer) werk je aan een breed scala van taken op het gebied van verwarming, ventilatie, airconditioning, koeling en koeltechniek (HVAC-R) aan boord van complexe (marine)schepen. Je bent betrokken bij het volledige proces, van het eerste voorstel tot de uiteindelijke oplevering van het schip. Tijdens de uitvoering van projecten werk je samen in een team met verschillende engineers uit diverse disciplines om de benodigde engineeringsresultaten te behalen. Je brengt zowel technische als praktische kennis in bij het ontwerp, waardoor HVAC-R systemen worden geïntegreerd in het totale scheepsontwerp conform het contract. Een kernonderdeel van je verantwoordelijkheid is het waarborgen van een soepele integratie van deze systemen binnen alle afdelingen, zodat effectieve samenwerking en een vlot projectverloop worden gefaciliteerd.
Als HVAC Integration Engineer lever je een actieve bijdrage aan het engineeringproces door essentiële deliverables zoals voorlopige berekeningen, schematische tekeningen, specificatiedocumenten, het beoordelen van leveranciersdocumentatie, functionele omschrijvingen en test- en validatieplannen te beoordelen en te optimaliseren. Om dit te bereiken sta je dagelijks rechtstreeks in contact met de klant en onderaannemer. Op deze manier draag je direct bij aan het succes van onze projecten en de innovatieve kracht van Damen Naval.
Belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheden
Opstellen van technische specificaties voor leveranciers en onderaannemers op basis van klant- en ontwerpeisen.
Uitvoeren van technische evaluaties van offertes van onderaannemers in nauwe samenwerking met de inkoopafdeling.
Controle op naleving van alle toepasselijke eisen opgelegd door de klant en wettelijke instanties.
Technische discussies voeren om een vergelijkbaar niveau van naleving te realiseren bij concurrerende leveranciers van hetzelfde product/systeem; (zorgt voor een goed startpunt voor commerciële onderhandelingen).
Toegewijd aanspreekpunt voor geselecteerde onderaannemers en beheert aspecten als scope van het werk, afbakening van leveringen, voortgangsrapportage en kwaliteit van leveringen tijdens de engineeringsfase.
Verantwoordelijk voor de integratie van geleverde componenten/systemen in het scheepsontwerp in nauwe samenwerking met interne afdelingen, onderaannemer, wettelijke instanties en eigenaar.
Beoordelen van technische informatie/documentatie van leveranciers; (bijv. mechanische tekeningen, schema’s, berekeningen, elektrische diagrammen, enz.).
Input en updates leveren voor de engineeringdatabase; (bijv. inkooporders, onderdelen, metadata, documentatie).
Uitvoeren van vereiste technische berekeningen om het ontwerp van de onderaannemer te valideren.
Opstellen van technische/functionele specificatiedocumenten (bijv. SDS).
Toezicht houden op alle contractuele verplichtingen van de onderaannemer(s) en afwijkingen van het contract bijhouden.
Toezicht houden op het uitbesteden van HVAC detailengineering (3D-omgeving) en het resultaat verifiëren.
Technische prestaties van producten en systemen verifiëren; (bijv. inspectie van apparatuur bij de leverancier, FAT’s).
Technische ondersteuning bieden voor inbedrijfstelling en testactiviteiten.
Zorgen voor een goede werkrelatie met technische vertegenwoordigers van leveranciers en onderaannemers.
Deelnemen aan ontwerpcontroles, reviews en risicoanalyses om de vereiste kwaliteit te waarborgen.
Deze vacature is geschikt voor een mechanical engineer of werktuigbouwkundig engineer met HVAC-ervaring in de scheepsbouw of maritieme sector, die werkzaam wil zijn in Vlissingen of Zeeland.
Vaardigheden & ervaring
Professionele opleiding op hbo- of wo-niveau, bij voorkeur in de richting HVAC-engineering of werktuigbouwkunde, met aantoonbare werkervaring.
Minimaal vijf jaar ervaring.
Kennis van HVAC-R systemen in een maritieme of offshore omgeving.
Kennis van elektrotechniek en automatisering in een maritieme of offshore omgeving.
Kwaliteits-, plannings- en budgetbewust.
In staat om met meerdere externe leveranciers en onderaannemers samen te werken en deze aan te sturen.
Ervaring met wettelijke instanties is een pré.
Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal, zowel schriftelijk als mondeling.

The role
As an HVAC Integration Engineer, you will work on a wide range of tasks in the field of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems on board complex (naval) vessels. You are involved throughout the entire process, from the initial proposal to the final delivery of the ship. During project execution, you collaborate in a team with multiple engineers from various disciplines to achieve the required engineering outcomes. You apply both technical and practical knowledge to the design, ensuring that HVAC-R systems are integrated into the overall ship design compliant with contract. A core part of your responsibility is to guarantee the smooth integration of these systems across all departments, facilitating effective collaboration and seamless project progress.
As an HVAC Integration Engineer, you make an active contribution to the engineering process by reviewing and optimizing essential deliverables such as preliminary calculations, schematic drawings, specification documents, reviewing supplier documentation, functional descriptions, and test and validation plans. To achieve this, you are in direct daily communication with the customer and subcontractor. In this way, you directly contribute to the success of our projects and the innovative strength of Damen Naval.
Key accountabilities
Writing of technical specifications for suppliers and sub-contractors based upon customer and design requirements.
Performs technical evaluations of quotations from sub-contractors in close cooperation with the purchasing department.
Checking compliance with all applicable requirements imposed by the customer and statutory bodies.
Engaging in technical discussions to achieve comparable levels of compliance for competing suppliers of the same product/system; (providing a good starting point for the commercial negotiation).
Dedicated point of contact for the selected subcontractors and manages aspects like scope of work, delivery demarcation, progress reporting and quality of deliveries during the engineering phase.
Responsible for integration of delivered components/systems into ship design in close cooperation with internal departments, sub-contractor, statutory bodies and owner.
Review of supplier engineering information/documentation; (i.e. mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, electrical diagrams, etc.).
Providing input and updates for the engineering database; (i.e. purchase orders, parts, meta-data, documentation).
Performs required technical calculations to validate the sub-contractor’s design.
Composes technical/functional specification documents (i.e. SDS).
Supervises all contractual obligations of the sub-contractor(s) and keeps track of deviations to the contract.
Supervises the outsourcing of the HVAC detailed engineering work (3D environment) and verifies the output.
Verifies technical performance of products and systems; (i.e. inspection of equipment at supplier premises, FAT’s).
Offers technical support for commissioning and testing activities.
Ensures good working relationship with technical representatives of suppliers and subcontractors.
Participate in design checks, reviews and risk analysis to guarantee the required quality.
Skills & experience
Professional education on Bachelor or Master level preferable in the field of HVAC engineering or mechanical engineering with proven work skills based upon experience.
A minimum of five years’ experience
Knowledge of HVAC-R systems in a marine or offshore environment.
Knowledge of electrical and automation in a marine or offshore environment.
Quality, planning and budget awareness.
Able to work with and manage multiple third-party vendors and subcontractors.
Experience with statutory bodies is a pre.
Proficiency in Dutch & English language written as well as verbal.
