We are seeking a Human Resources Intern to support our Corporate HR team in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. This is a remote/hybrid internship. The intern will begin as soon as possible in January and continue through the summer. The role will be part‑time during the spring semester and will transition to increased hours during the summer.

This role provides hands-on experience across Talent Acquisition, Intern Program development, and HR Operations. Key responsibilities include assisting with job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination; supporting intern program planning and logistics; and contributing to HR Operations through file management, onboarding coordination, and responding to HR inquiries. This internship offers broad exposure to multiple HR disciplines and the opportunity to build strong foundational skills in a collaborative environment.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the hourly rate for this position is $21 per hour.

Primary Job Functions

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Draft and refine job postings/descriptions; post approved roles to the careers page
  • Review resumes and schedule interviews, ensuring timely and clear candidate communication
  • Shadow TA team on phone screens and progress to conducting introductory screens
  • Attend intake meetings to gather role requirements and hiring timelines

Intern Program Development, Planning and Execution

  • Support planning and preparation for the summer intern program; update program materials
  • Run metrics reports, perform light data analysis, and maintain attendance/engagement tracking
  • Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling sessions and communicating with presenters
  • Draft and organize intern communications, resources, and best‑practice research findings

HR Operations Support

  • Maintain employee personnel files and manage HR document organization
  • Respond to HR mailbox/ticket inquiries and support routine HR administrative processes
  • Assist with onboarding tasks, including welcome emails and orientation coordination
  • Support HR audits, reporting, data integrity checks, training tracking, and ad hoc projects

Education/Qualifications

  • Must be actively enrolled in a college or university degree program to be eligible for an internship; candidates who have already graduated or will graduate before the start of the internship are not eligible
  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Preferably students between their junior and senior years
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, adaptable, proactive and resourceful
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to research answers independently

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. To comply with state pay transparency laws, we must disclose the entire salary grade. The entire salary grade for those who are classified as the Intern level is $38,700.00 to$ 54,200.00. However, the base salary range bolded above is what we expect to pay as a starting range for this position.
