Senior Analyst, Corporate Development

Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Development, the Senior Analyst, Corporate Development is a high-performing and results-oriented strategic thinker with the ability to support and meaningfully contribute to projects related to acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and other ad-hoc projects in support of Canadian Tire Corporation’s (CTC) True North Strategy. The Corporate Development team works closely with senior leaders across the organization to enable and execute on key strategic initiatives, with projects spanning all business units across CTC. The successful candidate for this position will exhibit strong business acumen, have deep financial know-how, and be comfortable working on fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous projects.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to the development and architecture of inorganic growth strategies (e.g., acquisitions, investments, partnerships, etc.) with business leaders across CTC that aligns with our True North Strategy

  • Work with key internal/external stakeholders to conduct market analysis, target scans, and company research and assessment

  • Support and lead financial analysis, modelling, valuation, risk evaluation, cost and benefit analyses, and business cases related to the opportunities

  • Contribute to evaluation, due diligence, negotiations, and developing project timelines and preliminary integration plans

  • Prepare investment memorandums and Executive and Board updates on opportunities, using and developing frameworks, playbooks and other communication tools to effectively identify, analyze, and recommend opportunities

  • Deliver curated market intelligence to leaders throughout the organization, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning

What you bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-caliber team conducting financial analyses and producing deliverables for senior decision makers (e.g., professional services, corporate development, investment banking, consulting, etc.)

  • Possesses a proven track record as a self-starter, demonstrating eagerness to learn and gain exposure to new businesses

  • Exhibits meticulous attention to detail, consistently double-checks work, and takes ownership and accountability

  • Experience conducting industry/market analysis, target scans, company and financial analysis and the development of new business opportunities and business cases

  • Strong financial acumen, including modelling, valuation, and business case development

  • Experience with building presentations, messaging and storytelling tailored to specific audiences

  • Project management and executive communication skills

  • Familiarity with due diligence, integration and post deal analytics (KPIs, strategic and financial advisory)

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Copilot, and market research tools, especially S&P Capital IQ

  • Comfort working with ambiguity

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects

  • Familiarity and/or curiosity for Canadian retail

  • Completion of or working towards a financial designation (CPA, CFA) is considered an asset

  • Candidate is required to be on-site 4 days per week
