Position Summary
The HR Business Partner is responsible for proactively leading both strategic and daily execution of HR activities for the corporate office at Apogee. This role reports to the Sr Director, HR & Talent Management and will be the HR Business Partner for corporate functions, such as IT, Finance, and Corporate Development to influence the overall operations and contribute to successful business outcomes.
This role will serve as a business partner to corporate functions, execute people processes with excellence, and act as a change agent for strategic initiatives within corporate functions and shared services. This includes the ability to assess and anticipate HR-related needs and proactively communicate needs with Corporate HR and corporate functional leadership teams. This role will provide operational HR counsel, leadership and individual coaching, and own leadership team effectiveness solutions for the assigned client groups on the corporate teams. This position will be based at the Apogee Corporate office in Bloomington, MN. This role will also work in close collaboration with our centralized Centers of Expertise (COEs), including HR Operations, L&D, Payroll, and Talent Acquisition, ensuring consistency and alignment in HR services and compliance while focusing on hands-on HR initiatives at the corporate office level.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership & Organizational Effectiveness: Serve as trusted advisor on workforce strategy, organizational design, talent needs, and culture. Partner with leaders to design and clarify roles, improve organizational effectiveness, and align structure with business goals and objectives.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Collaborate with supported functional leaders and Talent Acquisition on hiring strategy, role definition, and selection decisions. Partner with Talent Acquisition and the leaders on the interview process, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
Talent & Performance: Foster a learning culture. Facilitate performance management, talent reviews, and succession planning. Partner with leaders to identify critical roles, high-potential talent, and development needs. Coach leaders on feedback, accountability, and leadership effectiveness.
Culture, Engagement & Change: Shape and reinforce desired culture, behaviors, and ways of working. Lead engagement and culture initiatives and action planning for supported functions. Support leaders through organizational change and transformation. Facilitate change initiatives, such as restructures, process changes and new operating models. Identify cultural or performance risks and address proactively.
Governance, Compliance & Employee Relations: Interpret and apply employment laws, regulations, and company policies. Support compliance initiatives. Act as advisor to leaders for performance issues and concerns. Lead complex employee relations investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action procedures.
HR Expertise, Metrics & Process Improvement: Partner with HR COE on process enhancements, representing client group feedback, and assist with communication and implementation at the local level. Participate in initiatives to advance our HR operating model and maturity, increasing efficiency and effectiveness across the function. Monitor key workforce metrics (e.g., turnover, attendance, engagement) and provide actionable insights to leaders. Execute other projects and duties, as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university in related field or equivalent experience; and minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience.
Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations.
Strong business acumen and ability to connect people decisions to business outcomes.
Excellent collaboration, communication, relationship-building, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in organizational design, defining roles and responsibilities.
Experience with application of organizational change management practices.
Experience working in a multi-state, multi-facility, and matrix organizational structure.
Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
The salary range for this role is $75,000-100,000 + annual bonus opportunity. This is a hybrid role with 4 days/week in office and 1 day/week remote.
