Job Description:

Parsons are seeking a dedicated HSE Coordinator - Airfield to support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities for a Runway / Airfield / Airport construction project. The role focuses on assisting in the implementation of HSE policies, monitoring site safety, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and project safety requirements.

The HSE Coordinator supports the effective implementation of HSE practices on Runway / Airfield / Airport projects by monitoring site activities, assisting in risk control, and promoting a strong safety culture. This role is ideal for professionals with early-career HSE experience looking to grow within large-scale infrastructure and aviation projects.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on site experience, strong observation skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the implementation of the Project HSE Plan in accordance with company policies, local regulations, and client requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
  • Ensure compliance with approved method statements, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
  • Monitor daily construction activities including runway, taxiway, apron, and airside works to ensure safe execution.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel on site.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and subcontractors to address safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
  • Identify potential hazards at the worksite and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and pre-task safety meetings.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Senior HSE Coordinator or HSE Manager.
  • Assist in basic incident investigations and documentation.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure.
  • Assist in conducting HSE inductions for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Support delivery of toolbox talks and safety awareness programs.
  • Promote safe behavior and awareness among site personnel.
  • Monitor environmental aspects such as waste disposal, dust control, noise levels, and spill prevention.
  • Assist in implementing environmental protection measures as per the Environmental Management Plan.
  • Report any environmental incidents or non-compliances.
  • Maintain HSE records including inspection checklists, permits, and attendance logs.
  • Prepare daily and weekly HSE reports under supervision.
  • Support the maintenance of HSE registers and site documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure HSE requirements are followed.
  • Provide basic HSE guidance to site teams during daily activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and drills as required.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSE certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in HSE roles within construction projects.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, airport, airfield, or runway projects is an advantage.
  • Experience working on active construction sites with multiple trades.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety practices and HSE regulations.
  • Ability to identify hazards and report unsafe conditions.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Willingness to work in a site-based, fast-paced environment.
  • Additional safety training such as IOSH or OSHA.
  • Awareness of aviation and airside safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with HSE reporting formats and documentation.
  • Proactive attitude toward learning and professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
