HR Generalist

The HR Generalist serves as a partner and subject matter expert across multiple HR functions, including employee relations, engagement, talent acquisition, benefits, compensation and compliance. This role is the first point of contact for general HR inquiries and provides efficient support and guidance to employees and leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & Engagement:
    • Serve as a trusted resource to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, practices and programs.  Provide back-up coverage for HRBPs as needed.
    • Support performance management cycles such as calibrations, quarterly check-ins, mid-year and year-end reviews.
    • Support engagement initiatives that reinforce Gas South’s culture and values.
  • Administration:
    • Support employees’ life cycle from onboarding to offboarding
    • Provide administrative support to function owners as needed
    • Provide back-up coverage for Senior HR Coordinator as needed
  • Exit Survey Administration & Analysis:
    • Administer exit surveys to departing employees in a timely and confidential manner
    • Analyze exit survey data to identify trends and insights related to employee turnover
    • Prepare regular reports summarizing exit survey findings and recommendations for improvement
    • Collaborate with HRBPs to develop and implement action plans based on exit survey data
  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Support Talent Acquisition as needed with scheduling, screening applications, phone screens, offer letters and other administrative support as assigned.
    • Provide back-up coverage for Recruiters as needed.
  • Benefits
    • Support benefits and wellness initiatives such as wellness fairs, open enrollment, wellness campaigns and other administrative duties as assigned.
    • Provide back-up coverage for the Benefits & Insurance Administrator as needed
  • Compensation:
    • Provide administrative support to Compensation Manager such as completion of annual compensation surveys, creating and updating job descriptions, running ad hoc reports and other duties as assigned.
  • Compliance & Policy:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Review and recommend updates to company policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and practices
    • Assume full ownership for I-9 compliance including E-Verify, initial verification and re-verifications. Ensure 100% compliance with USCIS regulations
    • Support internal audits and provide requested data as required
    • Prepare and submit required filings such as EEO-1 and VETS-4212, and other ad hoc compliance reports as requested.
  • HR Systems, Metrics & Reporting:
    • Maintain complete and accurate employee records in the HRIS in compliance with the Document Retention policy. Conduct annual audit to ensure compliance.
  • Complete HRIS responsibilities as assigned.
  • Contribute to the successful achievement of HR metrics and KPIs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, including generalist responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.  
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in HR systems such as HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with UKG or similar HR systems preferred
  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
  • Advance AI skills with Microsoft Co-Pilot or ChatGPT preferred

Pay range is commensurate with education, experience, specialized skills or certifications, etc.
