Job Profile Summary
Ziegler CAT is looking for a HR Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a proactive, strategic advisor to assigned business units and a key contributor to the organization’s culture, performance, and operational success. This role provides guidance on employee relations, workforce planning, leadership coaching, and organizational communication, while helping leaders create an environment where employees perform, collaborate, and thrive. The HRBP ensures compliance with employment laws and company policies, supports consistent and fair people practices, and collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams as well as all HR team members to deliver high-quality HR solutions. This role combines strong employee relations capability with proactive partnership that builds leadership capacity, enhances team effectiveness, and reduces reactive HR incidents. Position will work on-premise at our Bloomington corporate office.

Responsibilities:

Employee relations –

  • Investigates and addresses issues
  • Supports the company relationship with labor unions, investigating issues and responding to requests
  • Provides direction and guidance on how to address employee relations issues and/or disciplinary actions
  • Fields employee complaints or questions
  • Partners with organizational development to ensure consistent support and discuss trends through both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to maintain positive employer / employee relationships that promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Supports the performance review process to ensure holistic approach to overall performance management

Compliance –

  • Maintains knowledge of employment law and governmental regulatory regulations affecting human resources functions
  • Ensures compliance with governmental regulations relating to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) plans and policies
  • Interprets HR policies and advises leaders and staff
  • Is aware of new or changing legal requirements and supports department in making recommendations and seeing implementations through
  • Provides guidance and support to other areas of HR to reduce risk and ensuring compliance

Project Management –

  • May lead or serve as HR representative on cross-functional teams
  • Undertakes ad-hoc projects and corporate initiatives to support HR efforts and support of the company and business objectives
  • Maintains working knowledge of Workday (HRIS) to support or lead projects as-needed

Administration –

  • Generates reports and supports ad-hoc business requests
  • Audits sensitive HR information to ensure accuracy and supports solutions if issues arise
  • Supports HR initiatives and events for the organization
  • Completes termination records, exit interviews, and escalates issues or concerns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field
  • 4 years of experience in Human Resources or related work experience
  • PHR certification a plus
  • Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to apply judgment in complex HR situations
  • Advanced communication skills – demonstrates empathy while able to communicate difficult messages
  • Project management skills – able to create a plan, work through obstacles with support, and see things through
  • Knowledge of employment law (local, state, federal)
  • Versatile - able to juggle multiple priorities at times
  • Personal Attributes: Acts with Integrity, Detail-Oriented, Fair, Diplomatic, Customer Service Orientation, Maintains Confidentiality
  • Demonstrate Microsoft Office skills (specifically Word and Excel)
  • Experience using HRIS systems (Workday), including running and understanding basic reports

Travel:

  • Up to 10% travel

The pay range for this position is

$82,300.00 to $102,900.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:
