WHO WE ARE

At Intel, innovation drives everything we do-and our High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters are at the core of our breakthrough discoveries. We are seeking a dynamic, detail oriented HPC Network Engineer to maintain and help evolve our state-of-the-art computing clusters into the next generation HPC compute environment.

Our HPC clusters play a pivotal role in Intel's broader AI strategy and supports mission critical workloads spanning generative AI, deep learning, analytics, HPC, and graphics-capabilities that are deeply intertwined with the future direction of computing.

We serve as system integrators for future Technology, Pathfinding, and Innovation.  We develop, operate and maintain HPC clusters and infrastructure in support of Sales and Marketing teams, new technology development, performance optimization, AI, Cloud, Enterprise, and more.

We work closely with our various partners to deliver performant and scalable compute clusters, leveraging both released and next generation server hardware, silicon, discrete GPUs, high performance storage systems and the fastest fabric interconnect available.

We are seeking an HPC Network Engineer with expertise in cluster networking, firewalls, layout, deployment and associated requirements for mechanical hardware, cooling, infrastructure and power.

WHO YOU ARE

The HPC Network Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Provide support and maintenance of large cluster hardware and software systems, for optimized performance, security, consistency, and high system availability.

  • Support hardware such as rack-mounted servers, network switches, and firewalls.

  • Support the latest Intel HPC data center technologies, including servers, fabric, storage.

  • Serve as a consultant for all projects and customers of the HPC lab, creating and improving methodologies used to enhance the performance, reliability, and manageability of the HPC clusters.

  • Research emerging capabilities in external HPC and AI clusters to help set direction on where the team needs to be internally.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other related field and 2+ years of experience

OR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other related field and 1+ years of experience

Relevant Experience should include the following:

  • Network experience supporting data center clusters

  • Experience with high-speed Ethernet (Gigabit and faster)

  • Experience with network architecture, design and associated disciplines and driving projects to completion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Linux OS and Linux based system admin experience

  • Experience managing cluster systems with 100+ nodes

  • Experience with high performance interconnects, preferably Mellanox InfiniBand, Omni-Path, or Converged Ethernet.

  • Experience with Arista, Extreme, or Cisco network hardware setup and configuration

  • Experience in data center layout, mechanical design systems, cooling (both air and liquid), and power delivery.

  • Experience maintaining HPC clusters with discrete GPUs

  • CCNA or CCNP certification or equivalent

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $91,150.00-172,860.00 USD

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
