Job Summary: This National Guard position is for a HOUSING MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0603000 and is part of the FL CBJTC, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a Housing Management Assistant, GS-1173-07, you will process requests for temporary quarters. Reviews applications for accuracy and completeness of data. Counsels brigade and battalion housing representatives regarding the availability, type, size and location of quarters. Assists in the assignment of troop issue housing and administrativespace. Evaluates such factors as size of units, sex of troops, type ofunit, serviceability and availability of building space and desire tomaintain unit integrity while effecting maximum utilization of space.Determines the need to move or rearrange furnishings and equipment anddirects the accomplishment of such work.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. The current exclusive representative is The Association of Civilian Technicians, Chapter 87 and the President is Mr. Michael Ortmayer at actch87@gmail.com MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted: E4 thru E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of housing management methods, practices and operating techniques; experience communicating information both verbally and in writing, and the ability to meet and deal with individuals and groups. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS07 Must have at least 1-year of experience, education or training determining deficiencies of housing and coordinating the required services to correct the deficiencies. Experience reviewing housing applications for accuracy and completeness. Experience monitoring housing assignments in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures. Experience in conducting audits and preparing reports. Experience using automated systems to update, retrieve and analyze data.
