Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA welcomed thousands of patrons as the building became a center for art and performance.

As Powerhouse Arts continues to grow and expand its impact, we are seeking a Part-Time House Manager to join our Visitor Services team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the success of events by supporting Visitor Services operations and delivering a seamless, positive guest experience. The House Manager oversees Front of House support staff (including greeters, ushers, and ticket scanners), ensures excellent customer service across all front-of-house touchpoints, and provides basic support for ticketing and registration systems. Working closely with the events and programming teams, this position helps ensure events run smoothly in a dynamic, guest-centered environment. The House Manager will report to the Associate Director of Ticketing & Visitor Services.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supervise part-time front-of-house greeters and ushers.
  • Help resolve customer service issues related to ticketing, refunds, or accessibility with professionalism and care.
  • Assist with the training of front-of-house staff. 
  • Ensure all fire code, safety measures, and capacity limits are enforced. 
  • Provide guests with information about Powerhouse Arts, event schedules, and venue policies.
  • Provide detailed post-event reports to the Associate Director of Ticketing & Visitor Services. 
  • Support the Visitor Services team in event check-in procedures.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering teams regarding cleaning and maintenance needs. 
  • Coordinate with the Security team to ensure the safety of all staff and guests during events.

  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to the mission of a non-profit arts organization.
  • Must possess an FDNY F-04 Safety Personnel Certification, or be willing to obtain it (Powerhouse Arts will cover all associated certification costs).
  • Proven experience in related customer service roles.
  • Proficiency with online ticketing platforms is a plus. 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed in busy or high-pressure situations, with a proactive approach to guest needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Hours + Compensation: The hourly rate for this role ranges from $28 to $30, depending on experience. There is no set shift; the ideal candidates will be able to pick up shifts as needed and assist with special events. Candidates should have flexibility and availability to support a range of scheduling needs.
