FTE: Part‑Time, 0.6 FTE - 24 hours/week (Hourly)
Starting Pay: $19.86/hour + more for experience
About the Role
Our Hospice team continues to grow, and we are pleased to introduce a new Hospice Volunteer Coordinator role to support our expanding volunteer program. This position is vital to meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing the meaningful companionship volunteers bring to patients and families at end of life.
You will lead volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement while partnering closely with Hospice staff and the Volunteer Services team. If you value community connection, creativity, and supporting others, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference each day.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, train, and retain Hospice volunteers
Schedule volunteers for patient‑care and administrative support activities
Maintain volunteer care plans, assignments, and required documentation
Attend Interdisciplinary meetings and collaborate with Hospice staff
Ensure compliance with CMS and regulatory volunteer requirements
Support data collection, volunteer records, and recognition efforts
Contribute to program development, including specialty initiatives (e.g., veteran support)
Participate in projects, events, and volunteer‑driven programming
Perform other duties as assigned
Community Engagement Component
Part of this role involves actively representing Hospice within the community to build a robust and diverse volunteer base. This includes:
Building relationships with local organizations, churches, and community groups
Hosting or attending community events, information booths, and outreach activities
Serving as an ambassador for our volunteer program, helping others understand the meaningful impact of Hospice volunteer service
This outreach is essential to meeting volunteer utilization needs and supporting growth in Hospice services.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ideal Candidate Traits:
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
Comfortable engaging with community partners and presenting to groups
Creative, proactive, and able to help shape a growing volunteer program
Professional, organized, and collaborative
Healthcare experience is helpful but not required
